I don’t know about you but since I started breastfeeding my relationship with my boobs has drastically changed.
I used to think of them as …. Oh common, I don’t have to spell it out for you? My mother in law reads this stuff!!! So please use your imagination…
They’re now mainly a source of food for my little one, which means having to wear a bra that is practical (for nursing, meaning easy for me to take the boobie out on demand), and comfortable (I need to sleep with that thing on!!! So yes it has to be comfortable)
This seems to decrease exponentially the bra selection you can choose from.
At first I didn’t pay too much attention to these things because I had so much to learn and fast! So the bra selection had to take the back seat for a while… Maybe even the trunk not just the back seat!
Now that my daughter has reached the big ONE year of age, I’m forced to face the fact that soon I will have to give up this wonderful gift that mother nature provided us ladies and go back to NORMALITY… Well at least the boobies will go back to normal.
All these changes that are coming are bringing back memories of what it used to be like to wear a nice bra and what it meant to feel sexy.
So I thought it would be nice, now that this subject is back on the front seat, to do some research for my fellow mamas and share some knowledge based on my experiences. Breastfeeding is a wonderful, crazy and overwhelming journey and you don’t have to face my same issues. So to insure that I put together this list.
My key priorities in searching for the perfect bra were the following:
- No underwire, it can reduce your milk production
- Natural materials, they help your boobies stay fresh
- Nice design, you’re a MOM not a NUN
- Comfort, you need to wear it for a long LONG time
And here are my findings:
Please feel free to take a look for yourself! These were the bras that best matched my list of needs I mentioned above.
And now there’s only one thing left to do!!! Happy shopping my dear new mamas and enjoy your new nursing bras.
Oh and don’t forget to share your nursing bra experience
