Take Care of Mama Bear Challenge

Dear Mamas,

As a new Mama I quickly realized that I had underestimated the amount of work it entails. I’m amazed at the overwhelming feeling I get at the end of each day when I face the fact that I haven’t been able to do all I had on my ever-so-long checklist!

 

I always run around hoping for a little break here and there so I can catch my breath, go to the bathroom and eat something (all at the same time, because let’s face it I don’t have time to waste!)

Most days I barely make it to bed and feel disappointed about myself for not being able to concentrate on simple tasks and/or remember to call back a friend or simply text them back to let them know I did not forget about them (Ok yes I did, but it’s not my fault if my LO decided to shove a toy in her mouth right when I was about to text and then started screaming her lungs out because I took the toy away from her and it took me 10 min to make her forget about it, which means I also forget what I was doing at the time I got interrupted and moved onto the next task!) So add to the mix some guilt while you’re at it and TA-DA here I present to you my exhausted self.

Now I’m ready to finally let my limbs touch the dreamy, fantastic matress and… here comes the hubby wanting some attention from me…

UUURRRGGGGHHHH When does this day end????? Or How do I make it last longer so I can get more stuff done??? How many times did I ask myself these questions!?!

Oh and did I mention the blowouts? I don’t know about you but the fights with my husband got way more intense than before! Sometimes I wonder if I’m the same person?

Think about it this way… Do you think your children will appreciate more a stressed out, worn out mom that will jump at them or yell at them for any little reason… or… a fun, relaxed and reasonable mom that will actually stop and enjoy their youth with them and makes time to make memories worth remembering?

If your answer is that you want to make fun memories with your family than you will find the challenges we have prepared for you PERFECT.

All about you challenge

We have prepared 5 challenges to encourage you to take care of yourself as a person and recharge your tired body and mind. Don’t worry we won’t challenge you to take a whole day to yourself so you can finally read that book that has been sitting on your nightstand for months now. We are trying to be realistic here and to really help you find yourself again. After all if we don’t have the time to take our own challenges, chances are you won’t have the time either.

Think about it? What do you have to lose? Worse case scenario you will just have to delete 5 emails… But what if they work? What do you have to gain from this challenge? What if with our help you are able to find yourself again? What if you get to learn something about yourself that you didn’t know before?

There’s only one way to find out!

  1. I love this. I have been working on getting more me time. Usually that means getting up in the morning before the kids and enjoying my cup of coffee in silence lol

  2. Love all of the reminders for taking care of yourself. And you’re right -a stressed out mom is NOT going to be the best mom possible. You need to take care of YOU before you can take care of others.

  3. Not a mom but most of my friends have become mom’s in the last two years. It’s so stressful and amazing how strong Moms are going through it all and figuring it all out! Self care is such an important part of that!

  4. Self care is something all women should be doing. We tend to be the caregivers and getting stressed out trying to get EVERYTHING done seems to be par for the course these days. You need to come first! Important lesson we all need to learn!

  5. I’m not a mother and even I find it difficult take out me-time so I imagine it must be so much harder for the mamas! This is such great reminder for why taking some time for yourself is so important. I totally agree 🙂

  6. Taking care of yourself is so important but the easiest thing to not do when you’re a new mom. I have two daughters, age one and eight, so it’s easy to get lost in the busy day to day chaos and forget about that necessary me time. A pedicure sounds like an excellent way to relax!

  7. This is such a good post – not just for mums but for everyone. It’s incredibly important to take care of ourselves and love ourselves before we start taking care of others! x

  8. This is so awesome! It is true that being a mom entails A LOT of work and it’s so easy to take ourselves for granted in the process. It is essential, of course, to take care of ourselves to be able to take care of our family better.

  9. This is something that lots of times I have neglected in myself. I will go and go and go until I can’t go anymore, but I never stop to take a moment to relax. Here a few days ago it caught up to me and I wound up breaking down in front of my husband. Yes, it is important to stop and take time for yourself.

  10. It’s hard to accomplish those things on your to do list with kids. I think moms have to learn to readjust expectations for themselves. You really don’t realize how much time poop takes.

  11. This is such a great mission. So many of us mamas put ourselves last and if we don’t take care of ourselves, it’s so much harder to take care of the rest of our family!

  12. I agree!! Us moms have to take a break and take care of ourselves. When I am having a rough day, I just like to take a break away and go sit in my room and relax and watch my shows.

    1. It’s not selfish, it’s necessary. In order for you to take care of others you need to be in a good state. So technically by taking care of yourself you’re taking care of everyone else too

  13. This is great info on how to take better care of yourself. Sometimes us women are focusing taking care of everyone but themself so this will help them get on the right track.
